When you use our dog training methodology, you will quickly find that our dog training
system and programs are second to none. We will show you how to quickly and effectively
get control of your dog and resolve the unwanted behaviors that you are experiencing.
Our Dog Training Programs Are Tailored To Your Dog
If you've done a little research and tried a few things on your own,
you've probably realized that not every method of dog training
works for every dog. We'll spend the time that it takes to talk
to you and observe your dog so that we can tailor our dog
training program to work for both of you.
By the end of our first session, we will have a dog training
game plan in place that will work for you and your dog. We
will also discuss alternative methods in case your dog is
not responding to his training the way that we would like.
We'll also have a plan in place for how we move forward with our
communication about your dog training. You will have clear
expectations on when we will meet again and how we will follow up
with you. You never have to worry about us leaving you hanging or
wonder when you're going to hear from us again.
All Of Our Training Is Done In And Around Your Home
Unless you are only interested in basic obedience commands,
group lessons are not as effective as in-home dog training. We
have found in the past that when conducting group lessons,
our dogs were more distracted, more stressed and less open
to learning than they are in the familiar surroundings of
their own home.
Also, one difficult dog can ruin the class for
eveyone involved. They can drain the trainer's
attention and cause an environment where
none of the dogs are learning. We only train in
your home.
We Only Use Humane, Dog-Friendly Dog Training Methods
We will never use physical pain, shock aversion or any negative physical stimulus to
train your dog. Our dog training methods include positive reward and negative reward*
operant conditioning, classical conditioning and counter-conditioning dog training
processes.
* - Negative reward operant conditioning does not include physical punishment. A negative reward can include
withholding of treats, turning your back, etc. It does not include stepping on paws, knee pops, leash hanging, etc.
You Will Always Have The Same Dog Trainer
We don't juggle you between dog trainers. Your dog trainer will always be the same person you've worked
with in the past.
Our Dog Training Includes In-Home Sessions and Ongoing Support
When you hire Phoenix Valley Dog Training for your dog training needs, you will receive multiple in-home
dog training sessions and unlimited telephone and email support for the questions that come up between
sessions. Whether those questions are about a new behavior that has developed or if you just want to recap
something that we discussed in a previous session, you can call us any time, as often as needed. We work
weekends and evenings so you never need to worry about whether or not it is a good time. We encourage
you to pick up the phone.
A lot of people ask "what do you mean by multiple sessions?". We do not limit you on the number of
sessions that we will provide. But, we also do not force you to schedule sessions that you don't need. Our
program is very fluid and the progress we make will depend upon how well your dog takes to the training
and how consistently we work with them. The important thing to know is that you will never call us and
hear us say that you have used all of your allotted sessions - you will get as many dog training sessions as
needed.
We Never Charge Travel Fees Or Additional Lesson Costs
We will spend the time needed with you to discuss and evaluate your dog so that we can determine a fair
dog training cost. Once we quote you a price, you can rest assured that it is the only cost you will ever
incur with us.
We Will Always Be Fully Truthful And We Will Give Honest Advice
Any dog trainer that tells you that every dog can be trained or rehabilitated, is a dog trainer that you should
question. As much as we hate to admit it, there are some dogs that are better off being re-homed or
euthanized. If we can't help you with
your dog, we will tell you up
front. Also, if your dog is a
"project dog", we will tell you
that and we will explain the
effort that is going to be
involved in controlling or
fixing your dog's behavior.
We like to think that
we can help any dog and
owner, but the hard truth
is that it's not always true.
If we don't believe that we
can help you with your dog,
we will not take your money.
If we have contracted with you
for your dog training and we
realize, when working with the
dog, that we cannot help you,
we will refund your money. The
last thing we want is to pocket
your money and then walk away without
producing any results. We understand that that's
no way to conduct a business and that a business
won't be around very long if you run it that way.
Our puppy training program tackles all of the issues that you will need to address to raise your puppy into
a healthy, well-adjusted dog.
We'll help you with every issue from housebreaking to socialization to establishing yourself as your
puppy's leader. Our "How To Raise Your Puppy" program is a comprehensive course designed to take you
and your puppy from the beginning stages of their development all the way into adulthood.
Our program is also designed to help you use their early development as a time to establish a strong bond
between you and your dog. Starting them off with a solid training program is the best and most effective
way of avoiding behavioral problems in their future.
Everyone knows the dog that sits and looks quizzically at their owner as the owner throws correction or
obedience commands at them. They will be happy to work for food or if they are in the right mood.
This isn't the owner that we want you to be with your dog. We will teach you how to become the leader of
your pack in your dog's eyes. Once you have established yourself in that position, your dog will become
much more responsive to you and to the commands that you are giving them.
Obedience and correction commands are the foundation for having a dog that is in your control. We will
teach you the proper techniques for addressing and instructing your dog so that your dog is always
responsive to your behavioral cues, even under distraction. A dog that is responsive to you is a dog that you
can be proud of and count on every day.
"I just wanted to send you an
update on how Audi is doing.
She's fabulous and we're on
our second foster dog. I think
it's really helping her deal with
distraction and still listen to us
at the same time because I've
noticed a HUGE improvement!
We've been working with long
distance recall and she's
getting much better at coming
to us when called but there is
still more work to be had.
Everyone comments on how
she looks to us for 'permission'
before she does something
and they all think it's really
cool. I'm like 'yeah, I know,
she's my girl!' "

"Once again thank you very
much for the expert training
and knowledge you have
given to my husband and
myself. I truly did not know
what to do anymore with
Leopold when, for no reason,
he started marking in the
house. Now that we
understand the pack structure
and have established
ourselves as pack leaders
Leopold has not had an
accident in the house in 5
months. Thank you again!!"

"Hey Steve, thanks for
checking in on us. Bubba's
doing great. I can't believe he's
so reliable with his commands
now. We had my sister over
yesterday and were showing
him off. You're totally right that
a really solid stay is much
more impressive than tricks.
We were using every
distraction that you taught us
to show him off. It was very
impressive. When we were
dropping the treats, you could
see how much he wanted to
break the stay and attack them
but he performed like a champ!
I was so proud of him (she
made the comment that before
the training I couldn't even get
him to sit with any consistancy
- she's right). I was really
worried that he would come
back and only listen to you (I
know I'm not the most
commanding person). But
when you showed me how to
elevate myself into the pack
leader role, it all made sense.
I'm following your suggestions
as best I can and he really
does show me more respect
now."

Excessive barking, aggression, dominance, biting, jumping, resource
guarding, digging, leash manners, separation anxiety, destruction,
housebreaking, and the list goes on...
Your dog's behavioral problems can
turn who you thought was going to be
your new best friend into an
unwelcome guest in your otherwise
happy home. Don't let a few
behavioral problems lead you to
giving up on your doggy dream. You
wouldn't trade in your car because of
a flat tire or a cracked windshield.
Your dog can be helped and we can
show you how.
Using our methodology, you will
quickly and effectively gain
control over your dog's poor
behaviors and turn your dog
into the friend and companion
that you wanted. Many of their
unwanted behaviors can even be fixed
in just one session. We'll show you how.
"Just a quickie to let you know
that I took Shasta on a 50
minute walk today and she
was nearly perfect from the
get go! I can't believe it! Maybe
it was beginners luck but I am
just thrilled to enjoy a walk
with her and I really think she
enjoyed it too!

Thank you so much!"

When correcting your dog, the keys are to set yourself up for success and to teach while correcting.
When your dog shows an unacceptable behavior or makes a bad decision, you
shouldn't look at it as a negative thing. It's an opportunity to help them learn.
With our programs, we show you how to use body language, stature and tone
and inflection of voice to help your dog understand how to give us the proper
behavior. They should be looking to you for their cues on how to behave.
"You would not believe the
peace and tranquility and JOY
and RESPECT around my
house after only a few days of
consistent and persistent
training and correction. Boojum
is no longer yelling at me,
Joops is about the same (just a
silly boy eager to please), and
Holly is much calmer and more
focused. It appears that I am
becoming recognized as leader
of this cowdog pack!!! Thanks!

Second Email:
The leadership methods that
you showed me are working
already. Holly is submitting and
Boojum and Joops are sending
me thank you vibes. I think this
will also help bring my cat Gu
back into the mix. Hopefully Gu
will soon realize that Holly is
not in control and my kitty can
come around more. Once she
is again milling about with the
pack, then I can correct Holly
whenever she goes into cat
attack or pursuit mode. While
working the techniques that
we discussed will take some
getting used to, I am willing to
put in the time. THANKS!"
